Safety

In 1976, at the founding of this company, Dean Gaylord believed that the well being of families was an important reason for being in business. That philosophy continues to this day and is an important part in everything we do. We believe that injuries and illness not only affect the well being of the employee, but also the family. We believe our employees deserve a strong commitment, at every level of management, to an injury and illness free workplace.

Gaylord Construction attaches great importance to the proper management of Health and Safety related risks, treating them as seriously as any other company objective.  Charged with leading our corporate safety objective is our full time Safety Director Ted Schneider.    We have also partnered with an insurance Agency TGT and a carrier EMC Insurance Companies which are as committed to safety as we are.  In a concerted effort with our partners we conduct job site audits, safety programs, and employee publications to further enhance and promote our commitment to a safe work environment.  In addition we have formed a Safety Committee comprised of individuals representing all facets of the company.  The committee evaluates current policy and provides input that makes certain we are at the leading edge of safety technology.

The Safety Director holds monthly safety/training meetings with crews and local managers. In addition to monthly meetings, the local managers are required to conduct a weekly safety meeting at their work centers.

Employees are expected to adhere to every element of our safety program. They are expected to perform jobsite evaluations and adhere to all federal, state, local, and client safety policies and regulations. In some cases, our safety policies may impose more rigorous standards of performance than government or client requirements.

Our subcontractors are an important part of our business, and we hold them to the same level of safety by incorporating our policies as a part of their operations.

At the end of each day, we want and expect everyone associated with Gaylord Construction to go home well and without injury. Their families deserve our highest level of commitment, and they shall have it.
